The Austrian battery manufacturer, Kreisel Electric, came to us with a great battery technology that will allow all people to store self produced energy, like solar or wind power.
All the great features needed a face to evoke desire with customer and outshine competitors. The product had many interesting questions, how do you deal with a large product like that? How much would people use a display on the product to get information, what information do you really need etc.
The tailored power team fluidly morphed throughout the process to cater for the specific need of each sprint.
The sprints are defining a goal, set a deadline, get a room and do whatever’s necessary to get it done. For the MAVERO we used projectors to speed up the mockup process because the product was so big and hard to grasp by looking at small sketches and computer screens.
The ambient interface was mocked up and tested in half scale but fully working in terms of experience with software, hardware and industrial designers working together.
The film and all images was produced by our CGI team allowing communication of the product before production as well as managing the full scale mock-ups.
Process & result
We had a vision of creating an appliance that becomes more like an interior object. The multidiciplanry power team enabled us to look at solutions outside the box,
The Ambient Interface, is the lit logo displaying charging/discharging and the beautiful lighting feature around the perimeter of the MAVERO that also displays the battery level when giving it a gentle stroke. These both enables the product to communicate essential information without using a display that is quickly outdated in the rapid advancement of technology. Instead the constantly updated display in everybody's pocket, read your phone, is used to communciate more detailed information yearly consumption.
The loop of light symbolizes the circular nature of renewable energy and while the colour of lighting is kept to a minimum we wanted to make Kreisel synonomous with energy by having the Kreisel green when displaying energy levels.
The energy storage for your home.
Our work focused on domesticating the technology, making it approachable, while communicating the innovation and power stored within.
